Preview Challenge #5
Part 1-
Take the folded half sheet of cardstock with the cut/punched/torn border and two of your scrap selections from preview challenge 4. You will create a birthday card from these beginnings. The scrap selections will be trimmed, punched or cut to create two panels on the card. You may add white, vanilla or crumb cake in any size or shape to layer or stamp on to add to the card. Use the 2 embellishments that you choose with your scrap pieces somewhere on the card.Part 2-
Begin sorting through your cardstock and printed papers. Are they organized to suit your stamping needs/style at this point in time? Are you able to find what you are looking for? If you find torn, wrinkled, dog chewed or otherwise not really usable pieces... throw them out or recycle. Do you use those retired colors? If not... reorganize or repurpose them so they dont distract you or make you feel guilty. Do you have an ample supply of your favorite colors or the colors you know you use most? What are your 'go to' colors?
How do you store those usable scrap pieces? Is your system working for you... do you use pieces from those scraps? If not... take the time now to reorganize! Using those scraps will save you $ but only if you actually use them!
Part 3-
Choose ONE word to describe yourself.
Preview challenge #6 -
Part 1- Tool maintenance.Part 2- Grab 3 different quarter sheet sized sections of cardstock- one must be white or vanilla, one any color of your choice and one black.
For the white or vanilla piece- stamp all over with any color ink. Stick to one color or use 2-3 colors. If you have embossing folders, run this stamped piece through the embossing folder of your choice. If you dont have embossing folders you can use a paper crimper, dry emboss with brass stencils, texturizing plate or crumple up in your hand. Then using one of the ink colors you stamped with, gently swipe the ink pad across the raised or embossed portions. This layer of ink does not have to be perfect... stray marks are fine.
For the colored section- run through your embossing folder, texture plate, paper crimper or dry emboss with a brass stencil. No additional inking.
For the black section- spritz with plain water, crumple up in your hands and then press flat. Tear the straight edges by hand or use your tearing edge tool. The final size of this black section will vary.
Pre Challenge #7
Take the torn and crumpled piece of BLACK cardstock from preview challenge 2 and combine with the folded half sheet with a BLACK stamped border from preview challenge 2 to create an encouragement or friendship card. You may add white or vanilla but otherwise only the color from the base card and black. Colored embellishments are encouraged
Preview Challenge #8
Take the word you used to describe yourself. Cross out any duplicate letters. Use the remaining letters as a guide to choosing cardstock or embellishments. The letter used must be found in the name of the item. Extra colors are permitted.
For example- If you choose LOVELY, you'd cross out the extra L and work with the letters L, O, V, E and Y. L could be lucky limeade, O could be organza ribbon, V for vanilla, E for eggplant and Y for calYpso.
Another example- CHEERFUL... cross out the extra E. C could be cherry cobbler, H for heart shaped punch, E for eyelets, R for rose red, F for 'friend' and use a stamp that says 'friend', U for sqUare (include a square shape) and L for lace.
Today you can choose if you'd like to create a card, scrap page or 3-D item. LOTS of freedom to be creative!!! It will be exciting to see what ya'll come up with for this challenge!!

Remember that moment (or moments) that you first fell in love with rubberstamping? Was is quick and easy 2-step style? Coloring? Treat holders for the kids? Adding stamping to your scrapbooks? Whatever 'it' was that put that spark in you... or released that inner artist in you... go back to that for todays challenge!
Create a card or scrap page that shows why you fell in love with stamping. Update it to your current style
Preview Challenge #10
Take the white or vanilla textured and inked piece from prechallenge 6 and use it to punch or die cut 3 identical shapes of your choice. 3 squares, 3 hearts, 3 stars, 3 circles... whatever shape you want. Layer each punched shape with a color used in your inking process.
Only 2 more prechallenge days left... you will have Sun. and Mon. to catch up if desired.
Preview Challenge #11
Part 1- With the retirement lists coming out early in the season, sort through your stamp sets and accessories that will REMAIN current and flag them. Give them a special place on your shelf or table so they are accessible. If some dusting is in order, do that too. Give the rubber sides a conditioning treatment with your stampin mist if you havent used/cleaned them in a while. Stamps do not like to be neglected for long. They want to be loved and cherished:)
Now you will be ready for swaps!

What is life without a little bling? Create your WELCOME or FRIENDSHIP card with bling appearing somewhere. A little bling, lots of bling or colored bling. Embossed (gold or silver), rhinestones, glitter, pearls or shimmer spray/paint bling...even foil thats been run through an embossing folder... the bling is up to you.
