What is your stamping story i.e. How did you become interested in rubber stamping and/or scrapbooking with Stampin' Up! Products? I did a little rubber stamping, probably beginning in the 80's but didn't do much until I started scrapbooking in 1995. I stamped on a lot of my layouts but not all of them. About 7 years ago a friend asked me to join her Stamper's 10 club. I loved going to the meetings and loved the Stampin' Up stamps she sold. She only did cards and a 3-D item each month. I had never made many cards so I enjoyed that but my first love was still scrapbooking. I began to use the stamps I bought on more and more of my scrapbook pages. After a year or so, she got a job and stopped selling SU. I found another friend who sold SU and joined her club. After a year or so, she moved and I was without a club again.
One of my friends who had been in both clubs with me told me I should become a demonstrator and she would join my club. I didn't have to think long about that! I joined in July of 2006. My club started out with doing 2 cards and a 3-D item each month until the ladies all convinced me they would rather do scrapbook pages. Now all but one lady scrapbooks so I use the supplies from the pages to make 3 card kits for her and she makes 2 of each card. I guess I barely make enough to get the supplies for the next class every month but I enjoy it and it assures my minimums. One of these days I might be more than a hobby demo but for now, I love it and it makes me happy :~)
What was your first Stampin' Up stamp set? I don't remember the name but it was 4 stamps with tiny designs on them, one had hearts, one had flowers, one had dots and I think the last one had leaves.
What is your favorite current Stampin' Up! stamp set? Wow, such a hard decision! I love the Medallion stamp but am having lots of fun with the new Delicate Doilies set. I can't wait to order the It's A Wrap Occasions set to start decorating mini chocolates either!
What is your favorite current Stampin' Up color combo? Hummm, maybe Pear Pizzaz, Pacific Point and Early Espresso. But then I also love Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue too!
Tell us a little about your stamping area or routine? I have a stamp room with a huge built-in desk that I stamp on when I'm alone. Usually I bring what I need (I make many trips as I go to get things I forgot) to the kitchen table and stamp out there. I have lots of shelves and plastic drawer units but I'm not very organized. I can usually find everything but do spend a lot of time looking for stuff that I didn't put back where it belongs! I stamp when I can but with a busy life and a large garden I don't get to stamp as much as I would like to. When the grandchildren come over they always want to stamp, I have several sets for them to use and it is fun to see them enjoying creating too.
What was your first year of VC Rocks? Yes it was. I thought you could only join if you weren't going to convention so I didn't join before. I decided not to go to convention this year (increase of airline prices and the whole pat down routine at the airport discouraged me) and joined when I came across the May blog hop.
Why do you recommend VC Rocks to other Stampers/ What is your FAVORITE part
of VC Rocks? I have enjoyed the fun and friendship. There is also lots of sharing of projects and ideas and quick answers to any questions.
